I enjoyed my childhood, though looking back on school, that was both great and awful. My best mates in life are my best mates from secondary school. There is something about being bored together every day for six or seven years. Your roots get entwined. But my sensitivity and my thin skin got in the way of me having really a good time in school. I am stupidly sensitive.

I think people do most things for love. I’ve climbed walls and into windows, broken down locked doors. Stupid stuff. Places that I wasn’t invited. Even a serenade. Not as eloquently as John Cusack in ‘Say Anything’, but yeah, in an ironic way. In a way that I know it would be appreciated. I’ve never killed.

It’s wonderful to feel responsible for other human beings.

““The idea of it was incredibly daunting. But I really liked the scenes that they sent me, and when I looked into the story of Gwen Stacy, which is epic and tragic and incredible, I loved it so much. Something was telling me that I needed to be her. And then I tested with him, and that sealed the deal. Because meeting Andrew, and working with Andrew … it was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had.” Emma, on what drew her to The Amazing Spider-Man.

In secondary school I was floating - I wasn’t passionate about anything. I did a little sport, but it was pretty joyless because the competitiveness was too much to bear.
